SPRINTS

After two EP’s Sprints will shortly release their debut LP, on indie-bastion City Slang (King Hannah, Nada Surf, Caribou …) . Their live shows are a furious and swirling affair, checking out at least one of their many live sessions on YouTube as proof is a must.
The irish foursome Sprints explores pain, passion and perseverance. Karla Chubb, singer, songwriter and front woman, faces her demons and looks them right in the eyes and has learned to channel her anger and rage. It’s about inner struggles, the feeling of having no place in the world, frustrations about injustices, misogyny, homophobia, sexism and inequality. Plenty of subject to be pissed off about as a queer person in a society that still struggle to embrace diversity.

ENGLISH TEACHER

The four members of English Teacher studied together at Leeds College of Music and discovered their shared love of post-punk à la Shame and Fontaines D.C. For their own project 'English Teacher', they wanted to find a sound that was as punky, biting and straightforward as that of their examples, while writing catchy songs that people could sing along to. Throughout the Corona pandemic, English Teacher released a series of self-released singles, which smoothly found their way into the UK press. Cult label Speedy Wunderground, which spearheaded the success of bands like Black Country, New Road, Squid and Black Midi, also signed the band for a 7". Meanwhile, English Teacher found shelter with major Island Records.
