PACHYMAN
The Puerto-Rican born Pachy Garcia, started playing guitar at a young aga but switched, under the influence of his love for Jamaican music, to piano and bass guitar. After his move to LA, he started collecting cheap recording equipment from second hand stores. From his basement, which Pachy christened ‘333 house’ studio, he would spin cut-and-paste dub tracks together on his vintage synths, mix panels and effects boards. An homage to the music of reggae- and dub pioneers with which he grew up, accompanied by nods to the Caribbean sounds of his youth.
TAKESHI’S CASHEW
Highway, dance floor, bounty beach - Takeshi's Cashew has a soundtrack for every scenario, always arranged with flair and delightfully eclectic. With six members combining academic musicality with the energy of an anarcho band, the Austrian group tests melodic and rhythmic boundaries. Only the biggest nerds know the name of all the instruments the band drags to their gigs. With a battery of vintage synths, a collection of percussion instruments and a collection of bizarre whistles, TC catapults the listener back to the ideal hippie world, only to gently return to earth.
